She was later the first woman news reporter at the station, at aged of just 22. After that, she moved to anchoring and reporting for KGW which is an affiliate of NBC located in Portland. Then, four years later she moved to Los Angeles and became a journalist at KCBS TV. It was during her time with the station for 6 years that she was awarded the two Emmy Awards.
